Great Monk Green
Great Monk Green
The Great Monk Green derives its name from its originator, Da Fang, a Buddhist monk residing in a temple on the top of Lao Zhu Feng Mountain during the late Song Dynasty. Legend has it that Da Fang personally cultivated, harvested, and processed the tea leaves, initially serving this exceptional tea to visiting scholars. Its extraordinary quality swiftly garnered acclaim, and people began flocking to the temple solely to savor this exquisite brew. Eventually, it was shared with local farmers, who thrived from its sales. As a token of gratitude, they bestowed the name "Ding Gu (Valley Peak) Da Fang / Great Monk Tea" upon the tea. During the Qing Dynasty, it earned the prestigious status of a Tribute tea and, for a time, was recognized as one of China's Top Ten Teas.
